Reacting to the outcome of the vote on FDI in the Rajya Sabha, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said the government has demonstrated its majority in both the Houses on the issue. Talking to the media outside Parliament House, Mr. Chidambaram said after winning the vote in the Lok Sabha, there was no need of voting in the Rajya Sabha. But the Upper House has a right to demand voting.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath said that the BJP was playing politics on the issue.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla said the oppositions' propaganda has been exposed. Parliament has endorsed FDI in the interest of farmers and youth of the country. He said the government will go ahead with the economic reforms.
