The Rajya Sabha has taken up the discussion on the Liberhan Commission report which probed the demolition of disputed structure at Ayodhya. Initiating the debate in the house the Samaj wadi Party leader Mr. Amar Singh held both the congress and the BJP responsible for the demolition of the structure at Ayodhaya. The discussion is continuing.

The House took up the issue for debate this afternoon after the two day Marathon discussion on it in the Lok Sabha. While participating in the debate the main opposition BJP termed the report a political document aimed at character assassination of the saffron party leaders, the ruling party members called for banning those leaders from contesting elections who have been held responsible by the Commission for the demolition.
Dismissing the opposition charge the Home Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram described the attack a pre planned move by the BJP and the Sangh Parivar. Mr. Chidambaram asserted that people of India have rejected the divisive politics practiced by BJP and the party lost at the hustings in 2004 and 2009 Lok Sabha elections. Mr. Chidambaram admitted that the then Congress led Narsimha Rao government had erred but added that this was induced by what he called the lies and false promises of the BJP and UP government.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Mr. Jagadambika Pal today dismissed BJP's charge of his involvement in Kar Seva during demolition of the disputed structure in Ayodhya. Talking to reporters in New Delhi today Mr. Pal said that the charges labeled by BJP President Mr. Rajnath Singh during the debate on Liberhan Commission report in Lok Sabha on Monday were completely false. He said he was an active Congress member during the period of demolition and described the move as attempt by the BJP to divert attention from its misdoings.
