Chidambaram concludes two day J&K visit

The Union Home Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram today concluded the two day visit of Jammu and Kashmir State after taking the stock of overall security situation of the State at high level meetings here. During his visit, apart from meeting State Congress leaders, the Union Home Minister had a one to one breakfast meeting with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at his residence in Jammu today. During the meeting the twoleaders discussed issues like security situation, counter terrorism , infiltration attempts from across the border and steps to be taken to prevent unrest like situation in Kashmir valley. Immediately after this meeting, the Union Home Minister chaired security review meeting at Mr. Abdullah’s residence wherein the Union Home Minister was apprised about the overall security situation of the state. Later Mr. Chidambaram along-with Chief Minister Mr. Omar Abdullah flew to Kishtwar where he took stock of the security situation of the five districts of Udhampur, Doda, Kishtwar, Reasi and Ramban with senior Civil and Police officers of these districts. Chidambaram is the first Union Home Minister to visit Kishtwar after a gap of almost 13 years. Mr. L.K. Advan was the last Home Minister to have visited Kishtwar in 1998.
