Chidambaram calls for strict vigil to check infiltration in J & K

The Home Minister P. Chidambaram reviewed overall security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. He also discussed the arrangements for the forth coming Amarnath Yatra with the State Government and Security agencies today. Fifty additional battalions of security forces have been deployed from Lakenpore To cave shrine to ensure hassle free yatra for which more than two lakh yatris have already registered themselves. The Yatra will commence from June 29. Union Home Minister P Chidambaram has lauded the role of border security force in maintaining vigil on line of control in Jammu and Kashmir. Mr. Chidambaram visited a forward post in Gurez sector on the conclusion of his two day visit to the valley. Interacting with jawans the Home Minister stressed the need for maintaining the vigil to strengthen peace and normalcy in the valley to check infiltration. Earlier the Union Minister was forced to change his helicopter in Srinagar while flying from Phlegm to Gurez as there was some problem with the flight parameters and pilot did not wanted to take any risk. Mr. Chidambaram is returning to Delhi today.
