Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram arrived in Srinagar today on a 2 day visit of the valley. Soon after his arrival, he met State Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhawan. The present security situation, smooth conduct of Amarnath Yatra and overall development of the state was discussed during the meeting. The Home Minister will be meeting Chief Minister, senior officers of law enforcing agencies and the representatives of state administration at Shere Kashmir International Convention Complex (SKICC) tomorrow. The overall security scenario and the Amarnath Yatra besides the general development of the state is expected to be discussed threadbare in the meeting. After the meeting the Home Minister is expected to visit Pahalgam.Union Home Minister P Chidambaram will review the security situation in Kashmir Valley tomorrow.He will also take stock of security arrangements for the annual Amarnath pilgrimage. According to Home Ministry sources in New Delhi,during his two-day visit, the Home Minister will chair a high-level security review meeting in the presence of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and senior officials of the state police, para-military forces and representatives of state and Central Home department. Chidambaram will later go to Pahalgam in south Kashmir where he will meet officials. The meeting is part of a series of interactions that the Home Minister started last year with officials at the district level. He will also review the development work in south Kashmir and security arrangements for the annual Amarnath pilgrimage which commences on 29th of this month. Chidambaram, who is accompanied by Director General of CRPF K Vijay Kumar, BSF Chief Raman Srivastava and senior MHA officials, will visit Neeru post manned by BSF in Gurez sector of North Kashmir where he will interact with jawans.
