Underworld don Chhota Rajan was today deported to India and is expected to reach Delhi early morning tomorrow. The special aircraft taking 55-year-old Rajan, who was arrested in Bali upon arrival from Australia on October 25, took off from the Ngurah Rai International at around 10.15 pm local time (1945 hours IST), an official said.<br/>Meanwhile, ahead of his arrival in India, Maharashtra government, in a surprising turn of events, has transferred all cases related to fugitive gangster Chhota Rajan to the Central Bureau of Investigation. <br/><br/>Addressing a press conference in Mumbai this evening, Maharashtra's Additional Chief Secretary (Home) K P Bakshi said the investigation is being handed over to the CBI because of its expertise in handling trans-national crimes.<br/><br/>Mr. Bakshi said the state police will provide all necessary support to CBI for carrying out the investigation. On the question of whether the questioning will be held in Mumbai, Mr. Bakshi said it will be CBI's decision to question Rajan in Delhi or in Mumbai. He added that the state government is fully prepared in case the CBI decides to investigate Rajan in Mumbai.<br/> <br/>This sudden development comes days after Rajan commented that some Mumbai policemen had links with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. Rajan had also accused the Mumbai Police of harassing him.<br/>Underworld don Chhota Rajan is wanted for over 70 cases of murder, extortion and drug trafficking in Mumbai, the most prominent among them being the J Dey murder case and Pakmodia Street firing case. <br/><br/>Earlier today, Mumbai Police commissioner Ahmad Javed said that gangster Chhota Rajan's involvement in journalist J Dey's murder case will be thoroughly examined and put up before the court.
