Chhattisgarh suffered the worst violence by Naxalites last year. They attacked as many as 60 targets causing immense economic damage. Minister of State for Home Haribhai P. Chaudhary gave this information in the Lok Sabha today. In reply to a question he said Jharkhand was also a major target of the Naxalites where they hit 22 economic installations. In Odisha the Naxals destroyed 17 major economic assets. <br/><br/>They also destroyed infrastructure in Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Kerala in varying degrees. He said the Left Wing Extremist groups, particularly the CPI(Maoists), extorted money from industrialists, businessmen and contractors. The Centre is closely monitoring the situation with a multi-pronged strategy to combat these elements, he said.
