Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has reached Raipur to take stock of the situation after yesterday’s Maoist attack. Maoists ambushed a joint team of security forces on Monday in the Chintagufa area of Sukma district in Chhattisgarh killing 14 CRPF personnel including two officers. As many as fifteen others were injured in the attack. The condition of three injured jawans is reported to be critical.
Maoists also reportedly looted weapons of security personnel including AK-47 and Self Loading Rifles. Maoists ambushed the team when the security personnel were returning to their camp after combing and area domination operation in the region.
Meanwhile, efforts are being made to airlift the critically injured jawans to Raipur for advanced treatment. Helicopters have been sent to Chintagufa base camp.
Chief Minister Raman Singh had convened an emergency meeting of the senior officers of Police, CRPF and Intelligence department and reviewed the situation last night.
