Chhattisgarh Maoist attack: Rajnath Singh convenes meeting in Raipur to review situation

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today convened a high level meeting in Raipur to take stock of the situation after yesterday’s Maoist attack. The meeting was attended by Governor and Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh. Senior officers of Home Ministry, state Police department and Central Para Military Forces were also present in the meeting called to and review the situation. Future strategy to deal with Maoist problem was also discussed on this occasion.

Meanwhile, some injured jawans were airlifted to Jagdalpur for better treatment. Efforts are being made to airlift the critically injured jawans to Raipur. Besides, Bodies of deceased security personnel are also being airlifted to Raipur.

Maoists ambushed a joint team of security forces yesterday in the Chintagufa area of Sukma district in Chhattisgarh killing 14 CRPF personnel including two officers. As many as fifteen others were injured in the attack. The condition of three injured jawans is reported to be critical. Maoists also reportedly looted weapons of security personnel including AK-47 and Self Loading Rifles. Maoists ambushed the team when the security personnel were returning to their camp after combing and area domination operation in the region.
