Chhattisgarh Govt. to create a new force to absorb over 5,000 SPOs engaged in anti-Naxal operations

The Chhattisgarh government will soon bring out an ordinance to create a police force to pave the way for the absorption of over 5,000 Special Police Officers engaged in the anti-Naxal operations. The state cabinet on Wednes approved the draft of the ordinance to constitute the Chhattisgarh Assistant Armed Police Force which will provide a chance for the SPOs to be accommodated. The decision to bring the ordinance comes against the backdrop of the recent Supreme Court judgment restraining the state government from appointing SPOs in the prevailing terms and conditions.
