In Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh on Tuesday inaugurated the new ‘Kondagaon’ district as the 27th district in the state. It was carved out of the ‘Bastar’ district in south Chhattisgarh.Dr. Singh had announced the creation of nine new districts in his independent day speech in August last year.Accordingly all the nine new districts came into existence with effect from the first of January this year. With the creation of these 9 new districts, the total number of districts in the state has gone up to 27.
