Heavy voter turnout is witnessed in almost all the 72 assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh where polling in the second and final phase is progressing smoothly. Brisk balloting has been reported from semi-urban and rural areas.

An estimated 50 per cent of the more than one crore, 39 lakh voters have already cast their votes to decide the fate of 842 candidates. Polling will continue till 5 pm. Security forces are keeping a close vigil in the Maoist affected constituencies for the smooth conduct of polling. No untoward incident has been reported so far.
