In Chhattisgarh, 20 security personnel were killed and more than 10 injured when Maoists attacked a team of Central Reserve Police Force near Tongpal in Sukma district today.

Among those killed include 15 CRPF personnel and 5 district police force personnel of Sukma. Police said the CRPF team, belonging to 80th battalion, were part of a road opening party which had left Tongpal early morning when Maoists triggered an IED and opened indiscriminate fire on them.

A helicopter has been pressed into service to evacuate the injured from the dense forest area.
