In Chhattisgarh, Maoists struck in tribal Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, killing 11 personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force -CRPF and injured five others near Bhejji in Sukma district today morning. <br/><br/>The Maoists ambushed a Road Opening Party of CRPF's 219 battalion near Bhejji at around 9 AM. The CRPF jawans were engaged in providing security for a road construction work on Injaram – Bhejji road when the incident took place. <br/><br/>Maoists triggered powerful IED blasts and later opened indiscriminate firing. Maoists also looted 10 weapons and communication devices from the slain security personnel before fleeing to the nearby forests. Additional reinforcement has been rushed to the spot and the bodies are being shifted to Bhejji. Critically injured 3 jawans have been airlifted to the state capital for better treatment. <br/><br/>Prime Minister Narendra Modi today spoke to Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the killings of CRPF personnel in Sukma. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, the Home Minister is going to Sukma to take stock of the situation. Expressing sadness over the incident, the Prime Minister paid tributes to the martyrs and expressed condolences to their families. He hoped that the injured personnel will recover quickly.<br/><br/><br/>Congress President Sonia Gandhi has strongly condemned the killing of 11 CRPF men in Sukma, Chattisgarh and described it as a dastardly act. Saluting the sacrifice of the CRPF men for their sacrifice, Mrs Gandhi said that her thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims. She added that India stands united in fight against terrorism and government should give a befitting reply to the forces spreading terror in India.
