This Puja is dedicated to the worship of the Sun God and to thank for supporting life on earth. Chhath is celebrated on the sixth day of the month of Kartik in the Vikram Samvat. It is said, those who perform Chhath with full devotion, their desires are fulfilled.<br />''<br />''AIR correspondent reports that a large number of devotees have  offered  special puja to Sun God at various sun temples including Deo in Aurangabad, Badgao in Nalanda and Ular Sun temple in Paliganj to observe the festival. In bordering areas  devotees of both countries India and Nepal are  performing  Chhath puja together on the banks of rivers. Lakhs of devotees gathered on the banks of various rivers including ,Ganga,Kosi ,Sone and Gandak to pay offering to Bhagwan Bhaskar.Standing  in khee deep water in ponds and water reservoirs devotees of mithilanchal areas including Darbhanga Madhubani,Sitamarhi ,Saharsa and Supaul paid  oblations to Sun God. All ghats have been nicely decorated and special lightings are attracting everybody. The state government has made arrangements  in jails for  those inmates who are performing Chhath.<br />''<br />''The four-day Chhath Puja will culminate with oblation to the rising Sun on 31st October morning.<br />''<br />''President Droupadi Murmu has extended her greetings to people on the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja. In a tweet, the President said, this day is a unique example of expressing gratitude towards nature while worshiping Lord Sun. She prayed that the blessings of Chhathi Maiya may bring happiness, peace and prosperity to everyone's life.<br />''<br />''Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja.
