In Bihar the Chhath Puja is being celebrated with religious fervors and gaiety. Chhath is considered a means to thank the Sun God for bestowing the bounties of life on the earth and prosperity. During Chhath Puja Worshippers do fasting of 36 hrs without taking food and water. Lakhs of devotees standing in knee deep water on the banks of rivers, ponds and water reservoirs through out the state paid oblations to the setting Sun this evening. After paying oblations to the rising Sun on Sunday morning the Chhath festival will come to an end.<br/><br/>A large number of devotees performed Chhath puja celeberations at Sun temple in Deo of Aurangabad , Bargao of Nalanda and Pandarak in Patna districts of the state.<br/><br/>AIR Patna correspondent reports that’s the whole atmosphere is reverbating with devotional folk songs. Roads and Ghats have been tastefully decorated with flowers and lights of different colours. <br/><br/>Elaborate arrangements have been made to ensure a trouble free congregation at all the ghats trough out the state for Chhath Puja. It is belief that those who observe Chhath festival with serenity and purity of heart their wishes are fulfilled.<br/><br/>People in Nepal, particularly in Terai region are celebrating Chhat festival dedicated to the Sun god with devotion and gaiety. On the third day of the festival today, devotee’s thronged tastefully decorated river beds and ponds to worship and make offerings to the setting Sun this afternoon, which will culminate with the worship and offerings made to the rising Sun tomorrow morning.<br/><br/>It is popularly believed that the fasting during the festival will restore sound health and usher happiness and well being of the family. The festival also marked a symbolic gesture to thank the Sun god for bestowing the bounties of life on earth and fulfilling the wishes of its devotees.<br/><br/>President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal have greeted the people on the occasion of the Chhat festival and hoped that the festival will help maintain religious, social and cultural harmony among all sections of the Nepalese people.<br/><br/>Thousands took holy dip at sangam at Allahabad and in the Ganga River in Varanasi on the occasion of first day of Chhat puja today. Devotees also offered prayers to Sun God in the evening at various ghats of Varanasi and Allahabad.<br/><br/>Heavy rush of devotees were seen in Varanasi where devotees took dip at different Ghats .<br/><br/>Special security arrangements have been made in Varanasi and Allahabad.
