Ch’garh assembly elections: 15 to 20% polling in first 3 hours

In Chhattisgarh, polling is in progress in 18 constituencies in the first phase of assembly elections. An estimated 15 to 20 per cent of electorate have exercised their franchise in the first three hours of balloting. Chief Minister Raman Singh is prominent among the contestants in the first phase. Three ministers Kedar kashyap, Lata usendi, Vikram Usendi are also seeking re-election.

Earlier, Maoist attacked a polling party in Pakhanjur area of Kanker district. One jawan of BSF was injured. The Maoist also threw a bomb on a Durgapur polling station of Kanker district. There were reports about Maoists ransacking Koilibeda polling station in Kanker, assaulting a poll official and taking away electronic voting machines.
