In Chennai, use of smart bikes is becoming increasingly popular among metro rail commuters every day. Smart bikes and cycles which are kept at 32 metro stations in Chennai enable easier commuting for office goers. The phase one project of metro rail covers 45 kilometers in the city. <br />'' <br />''Presently there are 200 smart bikes in twenty metro stations in the city. Smart bikes are also kept in residential and commercial spots. The Chairman of Smart bike mobility, the largest public bike sharing company, D.V.Manohar  said that providing a non motorised option to travel for last mile connectivity was extremely important.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">As the vehicles take less effort to pedal, the number of commuters have increased from ten thousand to fifty thousand a day in  week days. There is also an option to long term rental plan for a period of upto a month for a fixed rental fee for residents of Chennai. The use of the vehicle is also bound to increase more as  phase 2 project of Chennai Metro rail will cover 48 kilometers and is scheduled to open on the 14th of this month.</span><br />
