The match officials decided to call off the game an hour before the cut-off time as rain continued to lash the ground for about two hours. It was Delhi Daredevils' second match in the tournament. They had won their opener against Kolkata Knight Riders by 52 runs on the 13th of this month. All the last three evening games were abandoned due to inclement weather.
