The Chennai Police today issued summons to former Indian Premier League Chairman Mr Lalit Modi and six others in a case relating to misappropriation of funds to the tune of 470 crores. City Police Commissioner Mr T.Rajemdran told newsmen in Chennai this afternoon that Mr Modi has been asked to appear before the Police in the first week of January. AIR correspondent reports that the BCCI had filed a criminal complaint against Mr Modi accusing of misappropriating funds by rigging media right bids and free commercial air time. Mr Modi had been accused of corrupt practices including bribery and tax evasion, resulting in his suspension from the post of IPL Commissioner in April this year.
