NHRC issues notice to TN GovtThe National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, has issued a notice to the Tamil Nadu government to investigate the alleged death of five suspects in a police encounter in Chennai. Acting on a complaint based on the media reports, the Commission has directed the DGP of the state, District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police of Chennai to respond within eight weeks in this matter. According to an official release, the NHRC has also asked to submit a magisterial enquiry report and post-mortem report on the incident.
