Police in Chennai have detained 6 alleged bookies for spot fixing and betting in IPL matches. Three others manged to escape with, when raids were conducted in 6 places in the wee hours this morning. Police said in Chennai that several lakh rupees and electronic gadgets suspected to have used in betting were seized during the raids. Police sources said that one person who was nabbed recently on the suspicion of match fixing, had confessed to several links in the matter. Another financier who was arrested in Chennai, had confessed to have lost his house due to match fixing. The BCCI has called an Emergency Working Committee meeting on Sunday. In a statement, the Board said the Working Committee will discuss, among other things,the fallout of the controversy emerged from IPL spot-fixing scandal. A special cell of the Delhi police arrested India pacer S Sreesanth and his Rajasthan Royals teammates Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan yesterday for indulging in spot-fixing in at least three IPL matches with arrangements with bookies who have underworld connections abroad.They were sent to police custody for five days by a court for questioning.
