The Indian Coast Guard has said over 80 percent of the clean-up operation of the Chennai oil spill has been completed. The agency's Eastern Command Inspector General Rajan Bargotra told journalists on board its vessel ICGS Varad off the coast of Ennore near the city, the removal of the sludge and the oil slick would be over in two to three days from Marina Beach and southwards, though it will a little over a week in the northern shores near the Kamarajar Port. <br/><br/>The two tankers MT BW Maples and MT Dawn Kanchipuram that were involved in the collision resulting in the oil spill are berthed off the Ennore coast as two inquiries, one by the Directorate General of Shipping and another by the port administration are underway.<br/><br/> Mr Bargotra termed the oil spill as a minor one as per maritime records, with no considerable impact on fishing activities or aquatic ecosystem.
