In Tamil Nadu, preliminary inquiry by railway officials is being done on the derailment of Chennai-Mangalore Express near Vridhachalam Poovanur early today.<br/><br/>More than 39 persons were injured when five compartments of the train derailed.<br/><br/>Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has announced Rs 50,000 each to those with seriously injuries and Rs 25,000 each to those with minor injuries in the accident as compensation.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, most of the passengers injured in the accident are out of danger and have been discharged after first aid treatment.<br/><br/>Three passengers with injuries have been admitted in Vridhachalam Government Hospital for further treatment.<br/><br/>They may be shifted to Railway Hospital in Tiruchirapalli for specialized treatment if needed.<br/><br/>Railway DIG Bhaskaran inspected the spot and is heading preliminary inquiry alongwith other railway officials.<br/><br/>Tamil Nadu police officials led by Cuddalore SP Vijayakumar and Villupuram SP Narendran Nair inspected the accident spot.<br/><br/>Cuddalore district collector Suresh Kumar met the injured passengers at the hospital.<br/><br/>The Mangalore express train which left Chennai Egmore last night met with the accident near Vridhachalam Poovanur at around 2 AM early today.<br/><br/>Two general compartments in the rear side of the train derailed completely and came off the tracks and three AC compartments were partially derailed.<br/><br/>Rail services from southern districts to Chennai including Ananthapuri Pearl City Pothigai Vaigai Pallavan and Sethu have been delayed as they are being diverted through alternate line through Trichy Thanjavur.
