Chennai floods: Finance Minsiter extends loans, insurances for victims

Union Finance Minsiter Mr Arun jaitley today said that soft loans would be given to those who were affected in the recent floods in Tamil Nadu.<br/><br/>Talking to media in Chennai, after meeting Chief Minister Ms Jayalailthaa, Mr Jaitley said that 28 lakhs families were affected during the recent floods in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, and Cuddalore districts.Mr Jaitley said that banks will give soft and Mudra loans to the eligible.<br/><br/>Earlier, speaking at a function in Chennai, he distributed loans and Insurance compensation to 1800 people in the flood affected districts of the state.On the occasion, he also said that India is one of the poorly insured countries, and this has to be improved so people affected by natural calamities could continue their lives in a better way than before.<br/><br/>Mr. Jaitley said that steps have been taken to ensure that the Insurance companies expedite the claims. To settle any disputes that may arise during the claims process, 176 centres have been specially set up in.<br/><br/>He also said that the state and the central government are working in tandem to give better lifestyle to the affected people. Mr Jaitley also chaired the state level banker's meeting.
