To expedite the speedy completion of road connectivity projects to Chennai and Ennore ports, Union Minister of Shipping Mr GK Vasan has said that the Ennore- Manali Road Improvement Project and the Maduravoyal Elevated Expressway will be completed in two years time. Speaking to newsmen after reviewing the implementation of the projects in Chennai on Monday afternoon, Mr Vasan said that cost of the Ennore-Manali Road Improvement Project has been revised to 600 crore rupees following the four laning of Thiruvottiyur-Ponneri-Panchetti road and provision of underpass in Ennore Expressway Road. On the elevated express way, the minister said work will commence immediately after the project gets the environment ministry’s clearance. He said the 18 km express way project to be undertaken under BOT system will cost 1655 crores.
