The Chennai district electoral officer, Prakash held a meeting today with the representatives of all the media houses to underline the importance of avoiding paid news. The agenda of the meeting was Making our voters empowered, vigilant, safe and informed.  <br />'' <br />'' With just a week remaining for the polling, all the election observers are vigilantly monitoring cases of violation of Model Code of Conduct.  Audio, Video messages on social media, bulk SMs and tele calling is also being monitored. The district officer warned the media houses against paid news by political parties. The officer said any advertisement without the certification of Media Monitoring and Certification Committee will invite further action. <br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The expense of such advertisements will be added to expenses of the party candidate by the expenditure observer. In another development the state election commission has started the process of postal ballots for the Elderly, Divyangjan and COVID positive people. Addressing the media on postal ballots the district electoral officer Prakash informed that In Chennai alone 4300 people have cast their votes already through postal ballots. Tamil Nadu will go to polls in a single phase on 6th April.</span><br />
