Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has said the government would give top priority to the maintenance of law and order in the state. He inaugurated the three-day conference of the district collectors, superintendents of police, and forest officials in Chennai today. In his address, he said, maintenance of peace and religious harmony promotes investors' confidence which he said will help in generating jobs for the youth. He said it will also help the state to become a trillion-dollar economy. He warned that crimes against children and women, offenses relating to narcotics, economic offenses, and any efforts to disturb social harmony will not be tolerated.<br />''<br />''Mr. Stalin urged the officials to make efforts to increase the forest cover in the state from the existing 24 percent to 33 percent in the next ten years. He also asked them to take measures to augment road safety, as the state tops in the number of road accidents in the country. He said, timely redressal of public grievances at local levels will improve the quality of governance. He also asked the officials to come out with their suggestions to improve service delivery to the public.<br />''<br />''This is the first conference of the district-level top officials after the present DMK government came to power.
