Chennai Central blasts: CCTV footage being scanned to locate culprits

Tamil Nadu police is scanning the CCTV footage for suspected persons responsible for yesterday's twin blasts at Chennai Central Railway Station. The police have also alerted railway authorities at various stations from Bangalore to Chennai to look for CCTV footage for suspects and also the point at which the explosive material found its way into the train.

Two persons, who were travelling by the train, have been detained for questioning by CB-CID of State Police. A National Security Guard team has also arrived in Chennai to collect forensic evidence from the blast site. A 24-year old woman was killed and 14 others injured when two low-intensity bombs went off in S-4 and S-5 coaches of the Bangalore-Guwahati Express at the busy Chennai Central Railway Station yesterday morning. Our correspondent reports that the CCTV footage at the Central Railway station are being scrutinised by the security agencies to nab the culprits involved in the blast.

CB CID officials have also gone to Bangalore to view the cctv footages recorded during the departure of the train. There are more than a hundred CCTV cameras fitted at various vantage points of the railway station. Forensic experts say that both the bombs which exploded were of the same type and have ruled out the usage of RDX and TNT. More information on the crime scene is expected to emerge after analysis by the NSG team.
