Chennai airport is set to get a new surveillance radar. The work on the installation os progressing. A senior official of the Airport Authority of India said the radar has been purchased at a cost of 5.5 crore rupees and will be ready for operation by the third week of December. The advantage of the new radar is that its antena scan upto 900 aircrafts for rotation and it will help to reduce the workload of air traffic controllers.
