Chattisgarh Assembly polls: Filing of nominations begin for 72 seats in 2nd phase

In Chhattisgarh, notification has been issued today for the second phase of elections, marking the beginning of filing of nominations in 72 constituencies. Our Correspondent reports that for the second phase, nomination papers can be filed till November 1st. Scrutiny will take place on November 2nd and the last date for withdrawal of papers is November 4th.Polling is scheduled for November 19th.Our correspondent reports that in Chhattisgarh, the process of filing of nominations for 72 seats began today.

These constituencies will go to the polls in the second phase on 19th November. Out of these 72 constituencies, 9 are reserved for scheduled castes and 17 are reserved for scheduled tribes. The process of filing nominations began under strict monitoring and guidelines of the Election Commission. Barricading has been made in collectorates of 19 districts where nominations will be filed. Only 5 persons including the candidate will be allowed at the time of nomination.

Meanwhile, today is also the last date for filing of nominations for the first phase of elections in 18 constituencies of Chhattisgarh. Scrutiny will take place on October 26 while nomination papers can be withdrawn till October 28. In the first phase, eighteen constituencies in the Maoist affected region of the state will go to the polls on 11th November.
