Charges against Hindutva outfit outcome of UPA govt's prejudice: BJP

BJP today suggested that the charges against Hindutva organisation in Samjhauta Express and Malegaon blasts could be handiwork of the then UPA government.

The party cited a series of comments of Congress leaders and the then ministers to claim that whatever happened appeared to be a deliberate attempt driven by vote bank politics and political prejudices.

Talking to reporters in New Delhi, BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said use of phrases like Hindutva terror and saffron terror by top Congress leaders and Union Ministers almost one and an half year before cases were properly transferred to NIA make it appear that this was not the natural outcome of investigation.

Accusing Congress of practicing petty politics in a matter of national security, he said the party should offer regret for its use of such terms.

Mr. Trivedi also raked up the Ishrat Jahan encounter case and asked Congress to explain if former Home Minister P Chidambaram had informed the then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and UPA chief Sonia Gandhi about the reason behind change in first affidavit.
