In Punjab, Shiromani Charanjeet Singh Atwal of Akali Dal was unanimously elected Speaker of the Assembly today. Earlier, he was appointed protem Speaker of the newly elected house. Charanjeet Singh Atwal was earlier Speaker of the Punjab Assembly from 1997 to 2002. He also remained Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha. Dinesh Singh has been unanimously elected Deputy Speaker of the House. He is BJP legislature.
