The BJP leader, Mrs Sushma Swaraj has been appointed as the leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, while veteran party leader Mr. L.K. Advani is now the Chairman of the party's Parliamentary Board. This was announced at a press conference in New Delhi today by the party President, Mr. Rajnath Singh after the meeting of the Parliamentary Board held this evening. Mr. Singh said that the Board had amended the party's constitution to create the new post of the Chairman on Wednesday. He said Mr. Advani was given the power to nominate the leader of opposition in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Mr. Advani named Sushma Swaraj to be the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha and Arun Jaitely as leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha, a post he is alrady holding.Mr. Advani said he feels both relieved and satisfied and will continue to serve the party in his new role. Mr. Singh said Mr. Advani had expressed his unwillingness to be the leader of the opposition after elections but he was persuaded to continue in the post.
