Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will meet Union Water Resources Minister PK Bensal in New Delhi today to discuss Mullaperiyar dam safety.Meanwhile, as per the direction of the Empowered Committee of the Supreme Court, drilling process to procure concrete sample from the dam is continuing to ascertain the strength of the structure.Even as experts from Kerala and Central Water Research station are reaching Mullapperiyar dam to monitor extraction of surkhi sample from the dam, the water level of the 116 year old structure has come down to almost 120 feet since Tamil Nadu is drawing more water.Passenger and goods traffic is fully restored at Kerala – Tamil Nadu border in Idukki. At the same time, unleashing severe criticism against the UDF government, Opposition LDF has declared that it is getting geared to expose government stand on Mullaperiyar dam issue.
