Chandrababu Naidu’s hunger strike enters 7th day

In Andhra Pradesh, the indefinite hunger strike by Telugu Desam Party President Chandrababu Naidu has entered seventh day today. Mr Naidu has been insisting that his demands for providing relief to rain-hit farmers should be met by the government. He has rejected several appeals from Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and leaders of different political parties to call off his fast. Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences Director P V Ramesh said Mr Naidu’s condition is deteriorating. Hospital authorities have made makeshift arrangements in the emergency ward at par with an intensive care unit. Meanwhile, TDP and left parties are blocking national highways today as part of the protest against Government.
