Chandrababu Naidu's hunger strike continue for fifth day

In Andhra Pradesh, the indefinite hunger strike by Telugu Desam Party president, N. Chandrababu Naidu is continuing for the fifth day today. He has been forcibly shifted by the police to the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad yesterday. His personal doctor Dr Somaraju told media that his health condition is deteriorating as he has refused to take liquid diet as suggested by doctors. Rejecting the appeal by the state Government to end his fast, Mr Naidu said he would not call off his protest till the demands of farmers were conceded. The TDP cadres are holding demonstrations at all the Tehsil offices across the state today. Meanwhile, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who resigned from the Congress party and Kadapa Lok Sabha Constituency recently, has begun his 48-hour hunger strike today in Viajayawada along with over one lakh supporters. He is demanding the Government to announce higher compensation to farmers who suffered losses during the recent heavy rains.
