Chandrababu Naidu continues hunger strike for sixth day

In Andhra Pradesh, Telugu Desam Party supremo, N. Chandrababu Naidu is continuing his indefinite hunger strike for the sixth day today at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences in Hyderabad. He has rejected an appeal to end his fats by a Group of Ministers and reiterated that he would continue his fast till farmers’ demands are met by the Government. He has been forcibly shifted to the NIMS in Hyderabad by the police two days ago. A team of doctors is monitoring his health condition from time to time. NIMS Director P V Ramesh said the fasting leader should be given at least liquid diet keeping in view his health condition. Meanwhile, demanding the Government to enhance package for farmers, the TDP cadres are holding protest demonstrations at the collectorates across the state today.On other side, 48-hour mass hunger strike led by former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who resigned to Congress party recently, is also underway in Vijayawada. Over a lakh supporters are also taking part in the mass hunger strike. He is demanding the Government to announce better package to farmers who suffered losses during the recent heavy rains.
