Champions Trophy: India crush Oz by a whopping 243 run margin in warm-up match

India defeated Australia by a massive 243 runs in the second warm-up match of the ICC Champions Trophy cricket tournament last night. Opting to bat first at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, Team India posted a formidable 308 for 6 in the stipulated 50 overs. After getting off to a pedestrian start losing 5 wickets at the score of just 55, Dinesh Karthik rescued the Indian ship and scored his second successive century with some brilliant batting. Karthik scored a blistering 146 not out, with Skipper MS Dhoni ably supporting him at the other end. Dhoni made a resilient 91 and both shared 211 runs for the sixth wicket. In reply, courtesy paceman Umesh Yadav's fiery 5-wicket burst, Australia were bundled out for a paltry 65. Besides Yadav, Ishant Sharma scalped 3 wickets and Ravichandran Ashwin took one.This was India's second consecutive warm-up victory. India had defeated Sri Lanka by 5 wickets in the first warm-up match at Birmingham on Saturday last.The tournament begins tomorrow, with India taking on South Africa in the first Group match at Cardiff. The match will be played at 3 PM (IST).Divided into two Groups, a total of 8 teams are participating in the competition. India have been given a place in Group-B, alongside Pakistan, South Africa and West Indies. Group-A features, defending champions Australia, Sri Lanka, England and New Zealand.The final match of the tournament will be played on 23rd June in Birmingham.
