Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Sports has finally resigned after the refusal of President Asif Ali Zardari and government to enforce recommendations of the committee to improve the cricket affairs in the country. Iqbal Muhammad Ali who belongs to the Mutthaida Qaumi Movement announced his resignation at a press conference in Islamabad stating he is resigning because he is frustrated with the state of sports in the country. Iqbal said Pakistan cricket has faced one of its worst periods in recent times and although the committee kept on advising the board Chairman Ijaz Butt to improve governance he did not do it.
