Chairman of National Commission for Minorities says commission has taken several steps for welfare of minority communities

Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities Iqbal Singh Lalpura has said that the commission has taken several steps for the welfare of the minority communities. Talking to AIR News, Mr Lalpura said that the commission's mandate is to provide education and employment opportunities to this section of society. The Chairman listed out some of the initiatives like providing scholarship, training and extending loan facilities at affordable rates and organising Hunar Haat.<br />''<br />''Earlier, Mr. Lalpura said, the commission has also taken cognisance of the recent incidents related to Patiala of Punjab, Jodhpur in Rajasthan and Jahangirpuri in Delhi. He said, the commission has asked the report from the Chief Secretaries of Punjab and Rajasthan within seven days. He also informed that he personally visited the Jahangirpuri area after the incidents and interacted with the people there. Mr. Lalpura said, the report has been sought from the Delhi Police Commissioner in the matter and also emphasised that the miscreants should be dealt with sternly.             <br />''<br />''<br />
