Union Minister Nitin Gadakri has said, the work on Chabahar Port in southern Iran will begin soon once the tender process is over. The Union Shipping, Road Transport and Highways Minister expressed hope that the project will open a new gateway for development of India, Iran and Afghanistan by boosting regional connectivity and trade.<br/><br/> Talking to PTI after holding a meeting with delegations from Iran and Afghanistan, Mr Gadkari said, all the three nations are keen on expediting tripartite transit agreement on Chabahar port. <br/><br/>Mr Gadkari along with Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi and Afghan's Minister of<br/>Transport and Civil Aviation Mohamadullah Batash yesterday held discussions on expediting the trilateral agreement.<br/><br/>The Chabahar agreement was signed on May this year in Tehran in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Presidents of Iran and Afghanistan. <br/><br/>Besides the bilateral pact to develop the Chabahar port, for which India will invest 500 million US Dollars, a trilateral agreement on Transport and Transit Corridor was also signed by the three nations, The milestone pact on the strategic port will give India access to Afghanistan and Europe bypassing Pakistan.
