CGF decides to allow participating athletes to view games in all venues: Fennel

The Commonwealth Games Federation Chairman Mr Michael Fennel has said the organising committee of the games has decided to allow participating athletes to view games in all venues. Speaking to newsmen in New Delhi this morning, the decision follows complaints from athletes, that they were not allowed entry into stadiums to watch other sport events in which they were not participating. He said the organising committee is looking into the issue of unavailability of tickets to public and said a report has been sought. The Organising committee Chairman Mr Suresh Kalmadi on his part denied that the head of the ticketing Mr Sanjay Mitttal has been removed, and said Mr Mittal has been entrusted the job of exculsively taking care of the catering. He said police has been asked to take action against those selling complementary tickets after a volunteer was found selling them. Denying reports of lack of crowds to watch the road events, Mr kalmadi said public had gathered to watch the cycling and marathon events barring the finishing point. He said 10 percent extra tickets have been printed in unpopular sports which will take care of empty stands.
