CGF Chief visits CWG village; 71 countries incl. UK, Canada, Oz are participating

The Commonwealth Games Federation president Mike Fennel today visited the Games village in New Delhi and took stock of the preparations. He was accompanied by Games Organising committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi and other officials. Official sources say, as of now 21 countries including England, Canada and Australia, have given their confirmation to participate in the event. Some teams are expected to arrive later tonight. Seventy one countries are expected to participate in the mega event. Yesterday, the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh held a meeting with union ministers and others involved in the sporting event. AIR correspondent reports the cleanliness drive in the Games village is likely to be over by this evening. Most of the participating countries have now expressed satisfaction at the hygienic conditions in the Games village.
