To meet the shortage of power in Kolkata and its surrounding areas, Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) is reviving the thermal power project at Balagarh in Hooghly district. <br/><br/>Addressing a press conference in Kolkata today the CESC vice-chairman Mr. Sanjib Goenka said that, two production units of 660 megawatts each, will be set up there. He said that, the power production units would be built in an area of 800 acres of land. 3200crore rupees will be spent in the first phase of the project.<br/>
