CEO assures fool-proof security for free and fair elections in Manipur

In the poll bound Manipur, state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) P C Lawmkunga on Monday assured to provide fool-proof security for free and fair elections in the state. Talking to AIR, Mr. Lawmkunga said that 350 companies of Central para-military forces will be put into service in the ensuing state assembly elections which is the biggest ever deployment of security forces in any election in the state.He said that 100 companies of para-military forces have already arrived at Imphal and the remaining will be arriving very soon. He also appealed to the people not to be apprehensive of the militant threat and remain vigilant to help in the peaceful conduct of elections.Meanwhile, several political stalwarts including state Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Okram Ibobi Singh, Manipur People’s Party President Dr. Nimaichand Luwang and CPI leader and state Agriculture Minister Parijat Singh filed their nomination papers on Monday.
