The Centre has written to all states and Union Territories for Direct Benefit Transfer of kerosene subsidy in the accounts of the beneficiaries. Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha, in a written reply told the Lok Sabha that the distribution of kerosene is a matter entirely dealt by states and letters have been written to Chief Ministers and UT Administrators in this regard.<br/><br/>A pilot project on direct cash transfer in kerosene was initiated in Kotkasim tehsil of Alwar district in Rajasthan. At present LPG subsidy is directly transfered to accounts of consumers under PAHAL scheme. On food subsidy, Mr. Sinha said the states and UTs have been suggested to opt for DBT or automation of Fair Price Shops. <br/><br/>He said complete digitisation of beneficiary data seeded with Aadhaar and bank account are pre-requisites for implementation of DBT. The Minister said except Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Puducherry no other state and UT has indicated its willingness to implement DBT.
