Centre working on to improve connectivity to Manipur: Jitendra Singh

Union Minister of Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER) Dr. Jitendra Singh has told that Centre is working on to improve connectivity to Manipur. Speaking to media persons at Imphal this afternoon after reviewing the developmental projects taken up by the DoNER Ministry in the state with state Chief Secretary Oinam Nabakishore Singh and other senior officials of the state administration, Dr. Jitendra said, his ministry is working with various airlines in this regard. <br/><br/>He also said that DoNER Ministry is very seriously conscious of the connectivity of Manipur and has sensitized the airlines. He further said that his ministry will work on to pursue for introduction of commercial chopper service in between Imphal and Shichar.<br/><br/>The DoNER Minister also said that the Centre is very much committed to make Imphal-Jiribam National Highway an all seasoned road. He said, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways(MoRTH) Nitin Gadkari himself has very much concern of this road. <br/><br/>He said, "the present government and the MORTH ministry, National highways Authority and the present Minister Shri Gadkariji himself has took up this issue and has assured that there will be liberal funding for construction of this road. Earlier there was a constraint, I agree with you and that is why the affected people, out of desperation they tried to contribute, that is of course a very noble gesture which we cannot dis-acknowledge".
