Centre working on removing unnecessary rules to improve ease of doing business

Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that the government is in the process of weeding out unnecessary and unwanted rules and regulations as part of its efforts to improve ease of doing business in the country. Talking to reporters in Coimbatore yesterday, she said the rules and regulations, some enacted during the British era, are becoming stumbling blocks for doing business and the government is working on removing unnecessary rules as it wanted to simplify the procedures. Mrs Sitharaman was on a visit to the Coimbatore and nearby hosiery town of Tirupur to highlight Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious project "Make in India" and to know the problems and issues being faced by the manufacturing and textile sectors.
