The Centre has withdrawn rules which sought to regulate fish and aquarium markets. Under these rules, the aquarium owners and their establishments were required to register themselves. <br/><br/>According to a government notification issued on November 30th, Centre has withdrawn the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Aquarium and Fish Tank Animal Shop) Rules, 2017. <br/>'<br/>The Ministry of Forest and Environment had passed a series of rules on May 23rd aimed at curbing cruelty to pets dogs, fish and livestock under the prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act, 1960. <br/>'<br/>The Union Environment Ministry, however, clarified that the consideration process to make certain changes to a notification which bans the sale and purchase of cattle at animal markets for slaughter is still on and the file related to it is still with the Law Ministry. <br/><br/>The notification issued on 30th of November pertains to the aquarium and fish tank animal shop rules.<br/><br/><br/><br/>
